  • A large group of humpback whales are spotted near the shore as their spouts are backlit by the sunrise. I found it interesting to juxtapose the whale's pleasing spouts with the large man-made power plant stacks in the background.

  • This humpback continually breached and fin slapped for over an hour. While there are a few different guesses as to why whales breach, such as to get the attention of other whales and to help clean themselves of paraites, there is still no definitive answer.

  • The ocean's surface becomes chaotic right before humpback whales re-appear. The whales push the anchovy schools closer to the surface to be able to lunge feed, which the sea lions and flocks of birds use to their advantage to also get in on the feeding action.
